#71: March Review
Reporting on the end of one month and reviewing what’s coming up
February came and went in the blink of an eye. Holy moly! This year is flying by, as it feels like it always does. We are finally entering into the spring time and I have to say, the weather in Texas is absolutely perfect in March and April before it becomes hell on earth again until November, so I’m looking forward to soaking that up.
February was filled with The Olympics and March will be filled with March Madness. I. Can’t. Wait.
February Recap
Books
Behind Her Eyes by Sarah Pinborough: I still have not finished this book. I’m about 60% of the way through. It’s so good, I just haven’t had much time to read this much due to my Narrative Medicine class!
Hunger by Roxane Gay: We read a long excerpt of this for my Narrative Medicine class. Boy, is it amazing. I absolutely want to read the entire book. It’s a memoir exploring her relationship with food, body image, and trauma. She writes beautifully— as we would say in my class “she’s a reliable narrator with a clear persona”.
Television/Movies
Love Is Blind OH-IO! Are you watching? Season finale is on Wednesday and I am SAT. I think this season is pretty good- definitely entertaining enough to watch.
Survivor season #50 has started!! We are here for it!
The Night Agent season 2 and 3— I had to remind myself about season 2 before we entered season 3!
Travel
We traveled to Vail, Colorado during the weekend where they had the lowest amount of snow in 50 years. I can’t explain how on point this is for us. But, despite not skiing in over 20 years, I hopped on that mountain and went down it with only one MAJOR wipe out on a blue even though I threatened my husband to only keep us on greens<3
Traveled around our new neighborhood finding some hidden gems- including a friend’s new coffee shop, a dog-friendly patio bar, and a cutie hidden cocktail bar.
Etc
Played in a pickleball tournament with my husband and got 2nd!
Went on an Olympic inspired bar crawl and had the best cucumber martini I’ve ever had.
Went to a new church to just try it and ended up making a fool of ourselves- long story short at the end of service they all hold hands and sing, and we tried to walk out of their and were literally grabbed into the circle and held hands and sang with them. I cringe thinking about this. Especially because there was max 30 people there.
Unfortunately I’m still on the nail train and got them done again ($$$) Someone stop me!
Filmed my 5am routine and it took me 72 hours to edit it— how the F do people make those videos EVERY DAY.
March Review
So, what’s on the docket for March?
Houston
Heading to Houston to see the Houston Rodeo! It’s been on my Texas bucket list for 5 years now and I can’t wait. Bonus points since my best friend is flying in as well.
St Patrick’s Day
Hoping to host a St Patrick’s Day party? Or something! I’m dying to host and the weekend that I was supposed to do Galentine’s, every single friend of mine was out of town. So March I’m making it up for!
Meet the neighbors
Dear lord we’ve lived in this house for almost 4 months and haven’t met a single neighbor. We are hell bent on doing that this month!!!
Creative Writing
More creative writing practice in my Narrative Medicine course- we’ve moved on from poetry and are in non-fiction and personal memoir. I think this has been one of the hardest classes I’ve taken but possibly my favorite. I’m learning so much from absolutely brilliant teachers and classmates.
Spring cleaning?
Hoping to get our backyard organized, some flowers planted, wood chips, the whole nine yards.
Another month has come and gone.
Maybe this is a good time to reflect on what you want to do as we inch closer and closer to warmer weather and summer. I always like to have some plans for March and April, so I’m not waiting for summer to do something fun! Make sure you plan something to look forward to, whether it’s a big trip or a small hometown event. I think this time of year can feel a bit dragging for some, so here’s to pushing through! Do something fun. Get some fresh air. Go somewhere with sunshine. And know, daylight savings time is coming, days will feel longer, days will get warmer, and winter is slowly coming to an end.
I hope a new month (on a Sunday, again!) feels restorative, hopeful, and gentle.
As always, I’m rooting for you.
Until next time,
xoxo

1. Went hard on the Girl Scout cookies this month.
2. In a similar fashion, I ate an Oreo for the first time in probably 8 years and I’ve now had 2 packs of them and they are my new favorite food group.
3. I’ve already mentioned this, but I can’t wait to watch the Love Is Blind finale.
4. The lip stain that I talked about several weeks ago? I love it. I’m obsessed. I wear it every day. This is the one I bought (color Whimsical)
5. Did anyone give up something for Lent? I didn’t, oops.
6. I’ve been FaceTiming my nieces lately and I sing them horrible renditions of “The Wheels On The Bus” which has been a JOY.
